Roofless

You promised to lay the roof

with faith and trust

defying time I waited and waited

counting stars from the window

that are doorless

and the rains roofless.

Now the walls are crumbling

foundation is already sunk

cankers have grown around the walls,

my dream flower pots are in

anticipation for the harvests of

unreaped hope.

You never came, why I don't know?

See my hair is grey, skin is loose

cobwebs appear here and there

is it a joke of fate

or a game of sweet lies,

I sit here light a lamp every day

mumble my prayers.

The roofless sky relents

the wind stops, the lamps burns

what if I am roofless

my roof is larger than

anyone's eye can map.
